Danielle Dibbens is a Tellington practitioner for equines and lives and works in France. Danielle grew up in the UK but settled in France after travelling around the world in 2007. During her travels particularly in NZ and Australia Danielle, who grew up with horses, worked in lots of different stables and started to realise a dream of working with them – a bit of change from her brief career working with computers… Today Danielle is working on bringing the practitioner certification program to France, as well as seeing her regular clients and volunteering.
The Tellington training she started in 2010 allowed Danielle to complete and value her personal skills and build an expansive toolkit for helping horses be the best that they can be. The TTouch work and family just felt like home from the start, and she now enjoys sharing the cooperative, flexible and caring method with people looking to improve their relationship with their horse. Living in France during her training, she decided that the challenge of working with the Tellington method in France was worth pursuing at a time when equine well-being was only just being properly considered. Since qualifying, she has taught workshops around France and Belgium – and even in Finland !
Covid was a motivating factor for going online with training for Danielle, as with many of us, after setting up an online course for horses, she decided to create an online course for TTouch with donkeys. She approached a donkey sanctuary where she now, a few years later, is responsible for the training and reeducation of their donkeys. Danielle says that everyone should do some training with donkeys, they teach you so much, including patience, finesse and flexibility – and you can’t help but smile !
Danielle loves to learn and has other certifications including being an Equinology equine bodyworker and equine thermographer. If you are interested in hoof care, Danielle will be very happy to chat to you about feet and she offers thermal scans of hooves (and full body scans) where you can learn lots about the anatomy and physiology of your horse’s feet. This is particularly useful for people trimming their own horse’s hooves or those managing laminitis.
The thermography led Danielle to another interesting volunteer project with elephants! Quite by chance a project was launched relatively locally, to build a retirement home for elephants. The first elephants came from zoos, and they need some special care. The nature of the project means that the elephants have some health issues and Danielle initially started visiting to run thermal scans helping the team with healthcare. This then developed to doing some TTouch work with the team to help work on the issues identified. Doing TTouch with elephants has some challenges… but they are physiologically very similar to horses and enjoy the same benefits.
